DOUBLE CASK BY ERIK MADIGAN HECK
Each expression within our Double Cask collection is a complex sensorial journey, beautifully balanced by European and American Oak, sherry seasoned in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Photographer Erik Madigan Heck has presented his visual interpretation of Double Cask 12 Years Old inspired by classic, Flemish still life paintings of the 17th century. - DOUBLE CASK 12 YEARS OLD
Notes of candied lemon citrus and smooth fudge are just two of the defining flavours of The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old. Looking closely, subtle hints of vanilla can be seen in the still life, with the two-tone purple chiffon fabric a nod to the marriage of American and European oak sherry seasoned casks, the defining feature of the Double Cask collection. - Tasting Notes

- About The Macallan
- The Macallan was one of the first distillers in Scotland to be legally licensed. Since then we have built a reputation as one of the world’s leading single malt whiskies. The creation of The Macallan draws on the vital contributing influences of Spain, North America and Scotland - and of their respective natural raw materials, combined with traditional methods and craftsmanship.
- The Macallan distillery was founded by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. The original name of the area was “Maghellan”, taken from the Gaelic word “magh”, meaning fertile ground and “Ellan”, from the Monk St.Fillan - who held a close association with the church that stood in the grounds of The Macallan Estate until 1400. Farmers had been making whisky on their Speyside farms in the area for centuries, using their surplus barley during the quieter winter months. ©The Edrington Group
